to give a firmer ride and lower the frontal area for better fuel consumtion
After 20 sec in lower speed the 30 mph the EAS turn the height back to normal
For serious offroading the control buttons allows the vehicle the vehicle to raise

1994 Range Rover - The last 2 door - Produced: 11th January 1994

The last 2 door Range Rover with some of the workers that produced this legendary vehicle. Thanks to all!
Since the introduction of the 4 door Range Rover in 1982 model year the demand of 2 door versions
declined rapidly over night. In some markets like UK, Germany and Nordics the luxurious versions
of 4 door Range Rover were soon the main selling models and the 2 door was only available in
standard and a more utilitarian version for fleet users etc.
When the 4 door Range Rover Vogue SE was launched in 1988, the 2 door Range Rover fully
disappeared from the brochures and price lists in UK. Many thought the 2 door Range Rover
was history.
But this was not the situation in other markets like France, Italy, Spain and Portugal where
Range Rover was very popular and the 2 door versions still had a fairly high portion of the sales
due to lower import taxes. Many of those 2 door Range Rover versions was sold with diesel
engine, manual gear and they were less luxurious compared to the 4 door Vogue models.
During the 1990s several high luxury 2 door Range Rover limited editions were launched to keep
the sales high. 20 Anniversary Edition, Silver Fox and Silver Spring in France, Balmoral
2 door in Spain are examples of such limited editions. In UK in 1991 there was the legendary
Range Rover CSK limited edition, the last 2 doors to be sold in UK.
The last 2 door Range Rover produced 11th January 1994
Even still popular in some markets the production number of the 2 door body compared to the
high number of 4 door bodies, did not justify the extra development costs when the new Range
Rover Classic with completely new interior and the so-called 'Soft dash' with optional airbags
were planned to be launched in March 1994. So the production of the 2 door Range Rover was
now by the near end, planned to stop in January 1994.
The last 2 door Range Rover rolled off the assembly line in Solihull 11th January 1994.
It was a white van for delivery in Portugal and was delivered with a 200 Tdi (14L) engine and
LT77S (55A) 5-speed manual gearbox. The vehicle has #VIN KA647644 and was the final end
of nearly 24 years with 2 door Range Rover production.
The last 2 door Range Rover exist even today! It was found in Portugal by Filipe Azevedo which
is the current owner and Filipe will start to restore it back to the same condition as the day it left
the factory. To the right you see the beautiful and rust free KA647644 as it is today in 2015.
This Range Rover was a van with blinded rear side windows and no carpets in the rear luggage
compartment as you can see from the pictures above and to the upper right of the same vehicle
when it left Solihull back in January 1994. Many of the 2 door Range Rovers were van with only
2 front seats when they crossed the border into Portugal due to tax regulations.
BUT in the rear compartment of the van there were parcels containing the rear side sliding
windows, the rear high backet seats with assembly kit and safety belts. Full carpet set
The last 2 door Range Rover - beautiful and rust free in 2015for the rear passengers and luggage area and luggage shelf with supporting boxes and spare
wheel cover. Then the dealers in Portugal removed the rear side window blinds and installed all
the parts and seats so the 2 door van became the most beautiful 5 seater 2 door Range Rover
passenger car, to a far less price than if it was imported as a passenger vehicle.
Strange, but that was how the regulations was at that time!
The KA647644 was delivered with air conditioning system with walnut veneer in dash, no sun
roof, manuallly adjusted seats and rear view mirror. Door mirrors are electrically adjustable and
the antenna is the manual one just at the front of the windscreen. It came also with front spoiler
and long range auxilary lamps.
A big thank you to Filipe Azevedo for sharing this with us and wish Filipe the very best in keeping
the last 2 door Range Rover for the future
KA647644 represent the end of an era - the 2 door Range Rover
